All About Me
Hi! I’m Gopa Vasanth, pursuing final year in Computer Science and Engineering from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, India. I’m an active member of the Open Source student club FOSS@Amrita. I also contribute to Free and Open Source software projects and have been actively contributing Wikimedia technical projects since 2017.
Technically, I got selected for the Google Summer of Code 2019 program in my second year,which produced a handy tool – ​ VideoCutTool ​ for Wikimedia Foundation. I was also a part of “Mediawiki: Extension: RevisionSlider” development at “Season of RevisionSlider” after this project we successfully released RevisionSlider version 0.1 and now this is live in more than 700 of the production wikis of Wikimedia Foundation after several rounds of testing and checks. The extension helps the reviewers of Wikipedia using a friendly slider.
In 2019, I could be as Administrator come mentor the development of VideoCutTool and Mediawiki: Extensions as a part of Google Code-in which too was a great experience, collaborating and learning at every step, producing results within deadlines.
Internationally , I got the privilege of attending the Wikimedia annual developer conference at Prague, Czech Republic and as part of my extra-academic activities at our university Open Source club, which added to my experience. In my third year, I got a scholarship to attend a one-month Data Mining and Business Intelligence for Cyber Security course with the Ben-Gurion University in Israel which made me excited about the academia and performa of foreign universities.
